Sennheiser released the HD 500 BAM in September 2025 for owners of its wired HD 500 series headphones who also want to talk in games and on calls. It does not clip on. You twist and pull the headphones' own cable out of the left ear cup, push the BAM's plug into the same socket until it clicks, and twist it to lock. Sennheiser lists the HD 505, HD 550, HD 560S, HD 569, HD 599, HD 599 SE and HD 620S as compatible, which at G3 Collection means the HD 505, HD 560S, HD 569, HD 599, HD 599 SE and HD 620S. It does not fit headphones from other brands.
The mic is a 10 mm electret condenser capsule at the end of a flexible arm. Its cardioid pattern picks up mostly what is in front of it, so your voice comes through and more of the room noise stays out. Bend the arm so the red dot on the mic head faces your mouth. One foam pop screen comes fitted and two spares are in the box. With its cable the whole thing weighs 36 g.
The 1.5 m cable carries both the headphone sound and the mic, so only one cable runs from your head. An in-line remote has a wheel for headphone volume and a switch that mutes the mic. The 3.5 mm 4-pole plug goes into the headset socket of a computer, a PlayStation DualSense or DualShock 4 controller, an Xbox controller with a 3.5 mm jack, or a Nintendo Switch. For computers with separate headphone and mic sockets there is a Y-adapter in the box. Phones without a headphone socket need a USB-C to 3.5 mm adapter that supports a mic, which is not included. Since it is wired, there is no wireless delay in games.
Twist the cable on the left ear cup of your headphones to unlock it and pull it out. Push the HD 500 BAM's plug into the same socket until it clicks, then twist it to lock. Plug the 3.5 mm jack into the headset socket of your computer, controller or phone, or into the Y-adapter if your computer has separate headphone and mic sockets. Bend the arm so the red dot on the mic faces your mouth from a short distance. Choose the headset as the microphone in your device's sound settings and check that the mute switch on the remote is off.
Sennheiser HD 500 BAM boom arm microphone with a fixed 1.5 m cable, in-line volume and mute remote and 3.5 mm plug, Y-adapter for computers, 3 foam pop screens (1 fitted), quick guide and safety guide.
