Sennheiser SoundProtex Reusable Hearing Protection Earplugs - Black

The Sennheiser SoundProtex are reusable earplugs that protect your hearing without making music sound muffled. Sennheiser launched them in May 2023. The filter works in two stages, a tuned membrane and a sound-dampening mesh, so it cuts high and low frequencies by a similar amount. Cheap foam plugs mostly block the treble and leave the bass, which is why a band can sound as if it is playing under water. With SoundProtex the sound stays balanced at a lower level, and you can still follow a conversation.

The box has two pairs of filters that swap in and out of the ear tips. The Mid acoustic filter has an SNR of 17 dB and suits concerts, festivals, events and travel, or a noisy office when you need to concentrate. The full block filter seals the ear to shut out as much sound as possible for rest or sleep, and Sennheiser says it also keeps water out when swimming. If you want Low and High filters as well, those come with the SoundProtex Plus.

The ear tips are made of soft, medical-grade TPE without plasticisers and come in three sizes, small, medium and large, each with a small fin that holds the earplug in place. A filter weighs 0.3 g and a medium ear tip 1.4 g, so they are hardly noticeable once fitted. After use, rinse them under running water or wipe them with a cloth and keep them in the Sennheiser storage pouch. In India they carry a one-year Sennheiser warranty.

Pick the filter for where you are going: the Mid filter for concerts, festivals, travel and noisy offices, or the full block filter for sleep and swimming. Press the filter into the ear tip until it sits flush. Try the ear tip sizes to find the one that seals your ear comfortably. Insert the earplug into the ear canal until it sits snugly with the fin resting in the ear, but do not push it in too deep. To take it out, pull it out slowly and carefully. Clean the earplugs after use and before passing them to anyone else.

Two SoundProtex earplugs, ear tips in three sizes (S, M and L), one pair of Mid acoustic filters, one pair of full block filters, a Sennheiser storage pouch, a quick guide and a safety guide.
