Sennheiser SoundProtex Plus Reusable Hearing Protection Earplugs - Black

The Sennheiser SoundProtex Plus are reusable earplugs that protect your hearing without making music sound muffled. Sennheiser announced them in May 2023 alongside the standard SoundProtex. Each filter works in two stages, a tuned membrane and a sound-dampening mesh, so it cuts high and low frequencies by a similar amount. Cheap foam plugs mostly block the treble and leave the bass, which is why a band can sound as if it is playing under water. With SoundProtex the sound stays balanced at a lower level, and you can still follow a conversation.

The Plus box has four pairs of filters that swap in and out of the ear tips. High, with an estimated SNR of 20 dB, is for loud concerts, motorsport and power tools. Mid, about 17 dB, suits festivals, events and travel. Low, about 10 dB, is for quieter or unamplified gigs, noisy offices, bars and restaurants. The full block filter seals the ear to shut out as much sound as possible for rest or sleep, and Sennheiser says it also keeps water out when swimming.

The ear tips are made of soft, medical-grade TPE without plasticisers and come in three sizes, small, medium and large, each with a small fin that holds the earplug in place. A filter weighs 0.3 g and a medium ear tip 1.4 g, so they are hardly noticeable once fitted. After use, rinse them under running water or wipe them with a cloth and keep them in the Sennheiser storage pouch. In India they carry a one-year Sennheiser warranty.

Pick the filter for where you are going: High for loud concerts, motorsport and power tools, Mid for festivals and travel, Low for quieter gigs and noisy offices, or the full block filter for sleep. Press the filter into the ear tip until it sits flush. Try the ear tip sizes to find the one that seals your ear comfortably. Insert the earplug into the ear canal until it sits snugly with the fin resting in the ear, but do not push it in too deep. To take it out, pull it out slowly and carefully. Clean the earplugs after use and before passing them to anyone else.

Sennheiser gives the first owner a one-year warranty from the date on the invoice when this product is bought new from an authorised Sennheiser dealer in India. A defect in materials or workmanship in that year is repaired, or the product or faulty part replaced, free of charge at Sennheiser's choice. To claim, contact Sennheiser India customer support or visit a Sennheiser service centre with the original invoice, as every claim needs it. The storage pouch in the box, normal wear and tear, damage from misuse or accidents, and products opened or repaired by anyone other than an authorised service partner are not covered.
