Dylan Blue joined the Versace Pour Homme line in 2016 as a deeper, more modern companion to the original. Versace presents it as a strong, masculine scent inspired by the Mediterranean, and it wears that way: bright and aquatic at first, then darker and more resinous as it settles.
The opening is fresh and slightly bitter. Calabrian bergamot and grapefruit sit over aquatic notes and the green snap of fig leaf, so the first few minutes feel clean and airy rather than sweet.
In the heart, ambroxan brings a mineral warmth while black pepper adds a dry, spicy edge. Violet leaf, papyrus and patchouli give it an earthy, woody body. The drydown leans on frankincense, musk, tonka bean and a thread of saffron, leaving a smooth, faintly sweet trail.
The bottle is a heavy rectangle of deep blue glass, cut with bevelled edges and finished with a gold cap and the Medusa medallion at its centre.
It suits men who want a fresh scent with some weight behind it. Most wearers reach for it from spring through autumn, and it works equally well for the office, weekends and evenings out.
Spray from about 15 cm onto pulse points such as the neck, wrists and inner elbows. Apply to clean, moisturised skin and let it dry without rubbing, which can dull the top notes.
Keep the bottle in its box, away from direct sunlight, heat and humidity. A cool, dry cupboard is better than a bathroom shelf. Close the cap after each use.
