The Sennheiser BTD 700 is a Bluetooth 5.4 audio dongle for wireless headphones and earbuds. Sennheiser released it in June 2025 for computers and phones whose built-in Bluetooth only offers basic codecs. Plug it in and it shows up as a USB sound card, so Windows, macOS, Android and USB-C iPhones and iPads need no driver. The dongle weighs 2.2 g and is about 24 mm long with a USB-C plug, and the USB-A adapter in the box covers desktops and older laptops.
How good it sounds depends on the headphones you pair with it. With aptX Adaptive headphones it streams up to 24-bit/96 kHz, and with aptX Lossless headphones it sends lossless audio. Sennheiser names its Momentum series and some Accentum models as headphones that support these codecs, for example the Momentum 4 Wireless and the Momentum True Wireless 4. Other Bluetooth headphones still connect over SBC, or over LC3 if they support LE Audio. The status LED changes colour to show which codec is in use.
Three presses of the button turn on Game Mode. Latency drops to about 30 ms with headphones that support Snapdragon gaming mode, which also keeps voice chat open, and to roughly 50 to 100 ms with other compatible headphones. Two presses start an Auracast broadcast that several pairs of Auracast headphones or speakers can join at once. The dongle also carries calls and video meetings. It remembers one pair of headphones at a time, reaches up to 10 m with a clear line of sight, and does not work with TV USB ports.
Plug the dongle into a USB-C port on your computer, phone or tablet, or into a USB-A port using the adapter from the box. It switches on and goes into pairing mode, with the LED flashing red and white. Put your headphones into pairing mode and wait for the LED to flash white 3 times. If pairing does not start, hold the button for 3 seconds. Pick BTD 700 as the sound output if your device does not switch to it by itself. The dongle keeps one pair of headphones in memory, so pairing a new pair replaces the old one. On a phone, Sennheiser suggests a short USB-C extension cable to take the strain off the port.
