Sennheiser Ambeo Soundbar Plus 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos Soundbar - Black

The Sennheiser Ambeo Soundbar Plus is a 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos soundbar for people who want cinema-style sound from a single bar under the TV. Sennheiser announced it in September 2022 as a smaller version of the Ambeo Soundbar Max, and it went on sale in India in August 2023. Its Ambeo virtualisation, developed with the Fraunhofer Institute, places seven virtual speakers around you and four above, and it plays Dolby Atmos, DTS:X, MPEG-H and Sony 360 Reality Audio. Stereo and 5.1 sources can be upmixed to fill the room the same way.

Inside the 105 cm cabinet are nine drivers on nine class D amplifiers with 400W RMS in total. Seven 2-inch aluminium cone drivers face front, sideways and up, and two 4-inch woofers in closed chambers reach down to 38 Hz, so many rooms need no subwoofer at all. Four built-in microphones measure the room during setup and tune the sound to it. Six presets (Movie, Music, News, Sports, Neutral and Adaptive), a Voice mode for clearer dialogue and a Night mode are one press away on the remote.

Connect it to the TV through HDMI eARC, and plug a set-top box, streaming stick or Blu-ray player into one of its two HDMI inputs, which pass 4K 60 Hz video with Dolby Vision. Optical, analogue RCA, Ethernet and Wi-Fi 6 are also on board, along with AirPlay 2, Chromecast built-in, Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect and Bluetooth. The Sennheiser Smart Control app handles setup, and Alexa is built in. The Ambeo Sub, sold separately, adds deeper bass, and up to four can join wirelessly. The virtual height effect works best with a flat ceiling and side walls within 5 m, and 8K or 120 Hz sources should connect to the TV directly.

Place the soundbar centred below the TV, at least 10 cm from the screen and ideally about 70 cm off the floor, with nothing blocking the sides or top. Connect the HDMI cable from the box to the TV's HDMI eARC or ARC socket, plug in the power cord and turn on HDMI CEC on the TV. Install the Sennheiser Smart Control app on your phone, add the soundbar to your Wi-Fi network and run the room calibration, which takes a few minutes and should be repeated if you move the bar or the furniture. If the bar hides the TV's remote sensor, leave more space under the screen.

Sennheiser Ambeo Soundbar Plus, SB02-RC remote control with a lithium coin battery, premium high-speed HDMI cable, power cord, instruction manual, quick guide, and safety guide and compliance sheet. The Ambeo Sub and the SB02-WM wall mount are sold separately.
