The Nokia 123 Shield keypad phone in Green is an HMD feature phone built for people who work outdoors. HMD rates it IP65 for dust and water, the sides have a slip-resistant texture, and a rubber seal covers the charging and headphone ports. A 2.4-inch QVGA colour screen sits above a large numeric keypad.
It takes two standard Mini-SIM cards and keeps both on standby, and HMD says its antenna design is optimised for a stronger signal and clearer calls. The removable 1750mAh battery is rated for up to 19 days on standby and charges over USB Type-C. PhonePe comes pre-loaded for UPI Scan and Pay, and there is wireless FM radio, a QVGA camera with an LED flash and a bright built-in torch.
This is a 2G only phone, so it needs an operator with 2G (GSM) service, and HMD India recommends its 4G VoLTE models for Jio. The IP65 rating comes from lab tests, can weaken with wear and does not make the phone waterproof. Storage is 4MB, so photos and videos need a microSD card (sold separately). HMD lists no Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or front camera.

UPI payments through the pre-loaded PhonePe app need a bank account set up for UPI and network service. The service is run by PhonePe and its features can change.
Available storage is less than 4MB because system software uses part of it. A microSD card is sold separately and is needed for photos and videos.
The battery has limited recharge cycles and its capacity reduces over time, so it may eventually need to be replaced.
