The Marshall Emberton is a portable Bluetooth speaker in Black, the first generation of Marshall's compact Emberton line. It measures 160 x 76 x 68 mm and weighs 0.7 kg, with a silicone body, a solid metal grille and the Marshall script on the front. The IPX7 rating means it can sit in 1 m of water for up to 30 minutes, though it carries no dust rating.
Two 10W Class D amplifiers drive two 2-inch full-range drivers, with two passive radiators in a sealed cabinet. Marshall's True Stereophonic processing spreads stereo sound in every direction, rated 60 Hz to 20 kHz and 87 dB at 1 m. The battery lasts 20+ hours at medium volume, a full USB-C charge takes 3 hours, and 20 minutes gives about 5 hours of play. Bluetooth 5.0 reaches up to 10 m.
There is no microphone, AUX input or app support, so it cannot take calls, change its EQ or link with other Marshall speakers. Reviewers found the bass full for its size but short of deep lows, and playtime drops when you play it loud. Marshall has since followed it with the Emberton II and Emberton III.
Charge the speaker with the included USB-C cable; the battery is full when the battery indicator stops blinking. Push and hold the control knob for 2 seconds to switch it on. The first time, it goes straight into pairing mode; to pair another device later, push the Bluetooth button until the light above it blinks. Pick EMBERTON in your phone's Bluetooth list. No app is needed, and none supports this speaker.
Marshall Emberton speaker, USB-C charging cable, and user manual with legal and safety information. A USB power adapter is not included.
