The Marshall Emberton III Hendrix Edition is a limited-edition portable Bluetooth speaker made to mark 60 years since Jimi Hendrix first plugged into a Marshall. A purple oil-on-water print runs across the silicone sleeve and through the grille, and each sleeve is hand-dipped with a water transfer print, so no two speakers look exactly alike. The control knob carries a silver all-seeing eye and the battery indicator lights up in purple. It measures 160 x 76.9 x 68 mm and weighs 670 g.
Inside, 2-inch full-range drivers and two passive radiators sit in a sealed cabinet, and Marshall's True Stereophonic layout spreads stereo sound in every direction. A full charge gives more than 32 hours of playtime, and 20 minutes on a USB-C charger adds about 6 hours. The IP67 rating means it is dust tight and can sit in 1 m of water for up to 30 minutes. Bluetooth 5.3 keeps two phones connected at once, and the built-in microphone handles hands-free calls.
Marshall calls the Emberton III Bluetooth LE Audio-ready: the hardware is prepared for LE Audio and Auracast sharing as compatible sources and firmware arrive. It has no 3.5 mm AUX input, no Wi-Fi and no voice assistant, and no charger comes in the box. Playtime is shorter at high volume, and the 90 dB maximum suits a room or a small outdoor group more than a big party.
Charge the speaker before first use with the included USB-C cable and a 5V, 3A USB power source. The port is on the right side, and the speaker must be completely dry before you plug it in. Push and hold the power button until the speaker turns on, then hold the Bluetooth button until the light pulses slowly and pick EMBERTON III in your phone's Bluetooth list. Push the knob once to play or pause, left or right to skip and up or down for volume. The Marshall Bluetooth app adds battery preservation settings and firmware updates.
