The Lexar JumpDrive Dual Drive D400 64GB is a USB 3.2 Gen 1 flash drive with two connectors: USB Type-C for phones, tablets and newer laptops, and USB Type-A for older computers. You can move photos and documents between an Android phone and a PC or Mac without an adapter or a cloud upload, and Lexar rates the 64GB model at up to 130MB/s read speed.
The titanium-coloured metal housing has a swivel cover that turns to shield the connector you are not using, and a key ring loop lets you carry it on your keys. Lexar DataShield software sets up a password-protected safe on the drive with 256-bit AES encryption, and files deleted from the safe are securely erased. It works with Android, Windows and Mac systems and measures 60.6 x 16.2 x 9.7 mm.
Write speeds are lower than the 130MB/s read figure, and full speed needs a USB 3.2 Gen 1 or USB 3.0 port; in a USB 2.0 port it still works, at USB 2.0 speed. Part of the 64GB is used for formatting, so the usable space is a little less. Lexar backs the drive with a five-year limited warranty.
Turn the metal swivel cover to uncover the connector you need. Plug the USB Type-C end into a phone, tablet, laptop or Mac, or the USB Type-A end into a computer, and open your file manager to copy files across. To use the password-protected safe, install Lexar DataShield from Lexar's website. Eject the drive before you unplug it.
