- Bluetooth 4.2 with A2DP 1.3 and AVRCP 1.6, and up to two phones or tablets connected at once.

The JBL Pulse 4 is a portable Bluetooth speaker with a single 2.25-inch (57 mm) driver rated at 20W RMS, a 70 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response and sound that spreads in 360 degrees. LEDs under the translucent shell run a light show over the full body that reacts to the music. The JBL Portable app sets colours, effects and themes, and the lights can also glow with the music off.
It connects over Bluetooth 4.2, and two phones or tablets can stay connected and take turns. The IPX7 rating means it can sit in 1 m of water for up to 30 minutes. The 26 Wh battery gives up to 12 hours of play, depending on volume and light brightness, and refills in about 3.5 hours over USB-C. PartyBoost pairs two Pulse 4 speakers in stereo or links several PartyBoost speakers, and shaking one Pulse 4 next to another syncs their light shows.
There is no microphone, so it cannot take calls or reach a voice assistant, and there is no AUX input. It weighs 1.26 kg and has no dust or drop rating. PartyBoost does not work with older Connect+ models such as the Pulse 3, or with newer Auracast models such as the Flip 7 and Charge 6.
