The JBL PartyBox 720 is a portable Bluetooth party speaker and the biggest JBL party speaker that runs on battery power. Two 9-inch woofers and two 1.25-inch tweeters deliver 800W RMS from 32 Hz to 20 kHz, and AI Sound Boost tunes the output in real time. A lightshow with starry and strobe effects runs across the front grille.

Two swappable JBL Battery 600 packs give up to 15 hours of play, and a 10-minute charge adds about 2 hours. Two XLR/6.35 mm combo jacks take microphones, a guitar or a DJ mixer, next to a 3.5 mm AUX input and a USB-C port for audio from a phone or laptop, USB drives and phone charging. It connects over Bluetooth 5.4, and Auracast pairs two 720s in stereo or links other Auracast-enabled JBL speakers. The JBL PartyBox app controls playback, EQ and the lights.

At 31 kg it rolls on two wide wheels with a fixed handle, not a telescopic one, and lifting it into a car takes two people. No microphone comes in the box. It is IPX4 splash resistant, so spills are fine but a pool is not. Owners praise its volume and deep bass, and the weight is the usual complaint.

Stand the speaker upright on a flat, stable surface with the rubber feet down. Check that both JBL Battery 600 packs are in the bay on the back, then charge fully before first use: plug the supplied AC cord into the socket on the back, and a full charge takes about 3 hours with the speaker off. Press Power, then the Bluetooth button, and choose JBL PartyBox 720 on your phone. Turn the volume and gain to minimum before you plug in a microphone, guitar or DJ mixer, and set the slider next to the second combo jack to match what is connected. Press the Auracast button on two speakers to link them. Install the JBL PartyBox app to control music, EQ and the lightshow from your phone.

JBL PartyBox 720 speaker with two JBL Battery 600 packs fitted, an AC power cord (2 m), a quick start guide, a safety sheet and a warranty card. Microphones, a 3.5 mm AUX cable, a USB-C cable and spare batteries are sold separately.
