The JBL PartyBox 520 is a portable Bluetooth party speaker for terraces, lawns and house parties. Two 7.5-inch woofers and two 1-inch tweeters deliver 400W RMS from 40 Hz to 20 kHz, and AI Sound Boost tunes the output in real time to keep distortion down at high volume. A lightshow with strobe and starry effects runs across the front grille.
The replaceable JBL Battery 600 gives up to 15 hours of play, and a 10-minute charge adds about 2 hours. At the back, two combo jacks take XLR or 6.35 mm plugs for a microphone, guitar or DJ mixer, next to a 3.5 mm AUX input and a USB-C port for audio, USB drives and charging your phone. It connects over Bluetooth 5.4, and Auracast pairs two 520s in stereo or links other Auracast-enabled JBL speakers. The JBL PartyBox app controls playback, EQ and the lightshow.
At 25.5 kg it rolls on wheels with a telescopic handle, but lifting it into a car takes two people. No microphone comes in the box. It is IPX4 splash resistant, so spills are fine but a pool is not. Owners praise its volume and deep bass, and the most common complaint is the weight.
Stand the speaker upright on a flat, stable surface. Charge it fully before first use: plug the supplied AC cord into the socket on the back, and a full charge takes about 3 hours with the speaker off. Press Power, then the Bluetooth button, and choose JBL PartyBox 520 on your phone. Turn the volume and gain to minimum before you plug in a microphone, guitar or DJ mixer, and set the slider next to the second combo jack to match what is connected. Press the Auracast button on two speakers to link them. Install the JBL PartyBox app to control music, EQ and the lightshow from your phone.
JBL PartyBox 520 speaker with its JBL Battery 600 fitted, an AC power cord (2 m), a quick start guide, a safety sheet and a warranty card. Microphones, a 3.5 mm AUX cable and a spare battery are sold separately.
