The JBL Charge 6 is a portable Bluetooth speaker built around a 53 x 93 mm woofer and a separate 20 mm tweeter, driven at 30W and 15W RMS. AI Sound Boost reads the music in real time to hold distortion down at high volume, and the JBL Portable app adds a custom EQ and software updates. It connects over Bluetooth 5.4, and a USB-C cable from a compatible source carries lossless audio.
The body is rated IP68, so it is dust tight and can sit in water 1.5 m deep for 30 minutes, and it survives a 1 m drop onto concrete. A removable handle strap makes it easy to carry. The battery runs up to 24 hours, plus 4 more with Playtime Boost, and 10 minutes of fast charging adds about 2.5 hours. The USB-C port also works as a power bank for your phone.
There is no microphone, so it cannot take calls, and there is no AUX input or Wi-Fi. Two Charge 6 speakers pair in stereo over Auracast, which does not work with older PartyBoost models such as the Charge 5. Playtime falls well short of the rating at high volume, and no USB-C cable or charger is included.
