The JBL Authentics 200 is a smart speaker with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, styled after JBL's 1970s L100 with an aluminium frame, a leather-like body and the Quadrex grille. Inside, two 25 mm tweeters and a 5 inch woofer play in stereo, and a 6 inch passive radiator fires downward for bass. JBL rates the total output at 90W, with a 50 Hz to 20 kHz frequency response.
Amazon Alexa is built in for music, timers and smart home control. Google Assistant is also built in, but JBL does not list India for it, so plan on Alexa. Over Wi-Fi 6 it streams with AirPlay, Chromecast built-in, Spotify Connect and Alexa Multi-Room Music, and an Ethernet port allows a wired network. Bluetooth 5.3 keeps two devices connected, and the AUX input takes wired sources. Bass and treble knobs sit on top, and the JBL One app adds a custom EQ and updates.
It runs on mains power with no battery and no power button, and drops to standby after 10 minutes of silence. It has no water resistance rating, and Dolby Atmos is not supported. The sound leans toward bass, which the bass knob or app EQ can tone down.
