Cool Water Wave takes the oceanic signature of Davidoff Cool Water and gives it a sportier, more energetic edge. Launched in 2017, it was built around one idea: the moment a surfer stands up on the board and the wave takes over.
The opening is bright and salty. Sea notes and grapefruit arrive first, with a pinch of Sichuan pepper adding a tingling, slightly electric spice that keeps the freshness from feeling flat.
As it settles, juniper and birch leaf bring a green, resinous coolness that sits somewhere between the shoreline and a pine forest. The base is quiet and clean, with sandalwood and patchouli giving the aquatic notes a soft woody frame.
The bottle follows the familiar Cool Water shape, washed in an ocean-blue gradient with the Wave name picked out in orange. It was composed by Francis Kurkdjian, Antoine Lie and Jean Jacques.
This is an easy, uncomplicated scent for hot days. Community votes place it firmly in spring and summer, and mostly as a daytime scent.
