Apple USB-C to USB Adapter

The Apple USB-C to USB Adapter is a short lead with a USB-C plug at one end and a standard USB-A socket at the other. It lets a Mac, iPad or iPhone with a USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) port use the USB-A accessories you already have.

Plug in a flash drive, camera, card reader or keyboard, or connect a Lightning to USB cable to sync and charge a Lightning iPhone, iPad or iPod from a USB-C Mac. With an iPhone 15 or later or a USB-C iPad, the Files and Photos apps can open supported drives and import photos from a camera.

It has one USB-A socket and no extra charging port, so a power-hungry drive may need its own power supply when used with an iPhone or iPad. It does not add HDMI or other ports; for a display and pass-through charging, Apple sells the USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter.

Plug the USB-C end into a USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) port on your Mac, iPad or iPhone, then connect your USB device or cable to the USB socket. Drives appear in Finder on a Mac and in the Files app on iPhone and iPad.
