Apple USB-C to Lightning Adapter

The Apple USB-C to Lightning Adapter has a USB-C plug on a short braided cable and a Lightning socket at the other end. Plug it into a USB-C iPhone or iPad and connect your Lightning cable or accessory, so the gear you already own keeps working after you upgrade.

Apple says it carries three things through one adapter: charging, data and audio. That covers a Lightning cable plugged into a charger, a Lightning car cable, including cars that work with CarPlay, and wired Lightning headphones such as EarPods with Lightning Connector.

It does the opposite job from a Lightning cable: it will not let a Lightning iPhone use USB-C accessories. Charging and data speed depend on the Lightning accessory you connect, so it is not the fastest way to charge a USB-C iPhone. For your own car, a USB-C cable straight into the iPhone is often simpler, as Apple also suggests.

Plug the USB-C end of the adapter into the USB-C port on your iPhone or iPad, then connect your Lightning cable or accessory to the Lightning socket. No app or setting is needed.
