The Amazon Echo Show 8 2nd Gen. is an Alexa smart display with an 8 inch HD touchscreen (1280 x 800) whose adaptive colour matches the light in your room. Its 13 MP wide-angle camera pans and zooms digitally on video calls to keep everyone in frame. Call anyone with the Alexa app or an Echo Show, or look in on the room from your phone.
Ask Alexa in English or Hindi to play Prime Video and Netflix, or music from Amazon Music, Spotify, JioSaavn and Apple Music (some need their own subscription). Two 2.0 inch (52 mm) neodymium speakers with a passive bass radiator give stereo sound. Music streams over dual-band Wi-Fi, or from your phone over Bluetooth. The screen also controls compatible lights, cameras, ACs and geysers.
A physical shutter covers the camera, and one button turns off both the mics and the camera. There is no battery, so it runs from the 30W adapter in the box, and the 3.5mm audio out of the first Echo Show 8 is gone. The speakers fire out of the sides, so music sounds fuller across the room than straight in front of the screen.
