Launched in India in 2023, the Echo Pop smart speaker takes a different shape from the round Echo Dot: a flat fabric front on a rounded back, with a 1.95 inch (49.5 mm) front-firing speaker. The sound is directional, so it works best facing you on a desk, bedside table or shelf. Amazon tunes it for balanced bass and crisp vocals, and most owners on Amazon.in say it plays louder than its 196 g size suggests.
Alexa plays music from Amazon Music, Spotify, JioSaavn and Apple Music (some need their own subscription), sets alarms, timers and reminders, and controls Alexa-compatible lights, ACs, TVs and geysers, in English or Hindi. YouTube Music is not built in, so for that, or any other app, pair your phone over Bluetooth.
A light bar across the top shows when Alexa is listening, and pressing the mic off button turns it red. There is no battery and no 3.5mm audio out, so it stays plugged in using the 15W adapter from the box, which is white even on the Black model.
